1. Water

One of the best tools to fight a hangover is to drink plenty of water. Many nutritionists suggest that a person should drink a glass of water for every serving of alcohol they consume. This helps to dilute the alcohol and reduce the level of toxins in your body. Water is also important for rehydrating your body, since one of the effects of drinking alcohol is dehydration, which can be one of the causes of a throbbing headache.

2. Milk Thistle

Not to be confused with the dairy product, milk thistle is a type of plant known for its ability to reduce toxins in the body. Its powers as an antioxidant come from the active ingredient silymarin, which is found in milk thistle seeds. Milk thistle is primarily consumed in supplement form, and can be used to treat various ailments aside from hangovers like heartburn or gallbladder problems.

3. Sports Drinks

If you're suffering from a hangover, it's important to replace any lost electrolytes with a good sports drink. During the process of excessive drinking, you are also expelling important electrolytes, like potassium, from your body in your urine. These electrolytes are necessary for proper cell function, and can easily be replenished with sports drinks that can also rehydrate you.

4. Fresh Fruits And Vegetables

When you consider how much damage alcohol can do to the body, especially when ingested in excessive amounts, it should be no surprise that fresh fruits and vegetables can help with your hangover woes. The numerous vitamins and minerals like vitamin C and potassium can help boost your bodily function and energy levels. 6. Take A Bath Or Shower

When you pile on the junk food to help get rid of your hangover, you're only giving your body more problems to deal with, which can later lead to heartburn, upset stomach, constipation or diarrhea.
  • Drink more alcohol: A common myth is to drink more alcohol to cure your morning hangover, whether it's a Bloody Mary or more of the same alcohol you drank the night before. The idea is to induce further intoxication to rid yourself of the effects of your hangover, while inducing a delightful sense of euphoria. In other words, get yourself drunk again to get rid of the headache. The problem with this cure is your body still has to process the alcohol, so you're merely postponing the inevitable hangover.
  • Hangover pills: There are numerous hangover medications available on the market that claim to be a proper solution to a bad morning after heavy drinking. However, there isn't enough scientific evidence to support the claims of these hangover pills.
