One of the easiest way to perform this is to buy a neti pot or bulb syringe and fill it with solution. Put your head over a sink or tub and hold it at about a 45-degree angle, then pour the solution into your top nostril. Never use tap water because it can result in a serious infection. Instead, use distilled water or a commercial solution. Read the instructions that come with your neti pot or syringe to make sure you are using it correctly.

Breathe as deeply as you can to inhale the steam for best results.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water can help prevent a sinus infection from occurring, and may speed healing and soothe symptoms if you do get one. Most people should try to drink at least a quart a day. While some of that can be in the form of over beverages, water is generally the healthiest option. Never drink alcohol while dealing with a sinus infection because it can make your inflammation worse, causing more pain. Getting enough water can thin the mucous in your nose, helping any blockages clear out more quickly. For best results, combine drinking liquids with plenty of rest to let your body heal.
