10 Anti-Aging Tips To Make Yourself Look Younger

If only it were possible to make a wish to stop aging and have it come true, as it did for Dorian Gray. You’d no longer have to worry about wrinkles and fine lines, getting gray hair, or contemplate when to start getting plastic surgery. Since you can’t wish yourself younger, you’ll just have to defy aging the old-fashioned way – by trying these 10 anti-aging tips to make yourself look younger.

1. Keep Moving

Exercising will keep you both fit and young-looking, so keep your body moving. Even if you go for brisk walks a few times a week, that’s enough to keep fit. Studies show that walking a few times a week can ward off cognitive impairment later in life. But no matter how you exercise, it’s important to move so you can maintain a healthy weight. Obesity can cause you to age and can lead to numerous health problems that can reduce your quality of life in the long-run.

2. Protect Your Skin

Ever notice that brown, freckly skin on some older people’s skin? That’s called mottled skin, which is unsightly and a sure sign of age. Mottled skin comes from spending too much time in the sun without protecting your skin. In order to avoid this as well as some of the other effects of sun damage, protect your skin before you step outside. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and put on long-sleeved shirts and pants to cover up your skin. If you must wear clothing that exposes your skin, be sure to slather on the sunblock. Exfoliate your skin often and always keep it moisturized.

3. Eat Fish

There are so many benefits to eating fish, but the best benefit for your health is the load of omega-3 fatty acids that come from consuming cold-water fish. Omega-3s have anti-inflammatory properties and are very heart healthy. They’re also good for your hair, skin and nails, so next time you’re at the grocery store, stock up on salmon, mackerel, trout and sardines. If you don’t like fish or are allergic to seafood, you can take a supplement instead.

4. Put Tea On Your Eyes

It may sound old-fashioned, but it does work. If you put warm, damp teabags on your eyes for 15 minutes, the antioxidants will reduce any puffiness or dark circles around your eyes.

Keeping your skin moisturized is the key to fighting wrinkles, so keep the delicate skin around your eyes hydrated. Pat your eyes and the skin around them dry – don’t rub – after washing your face. Rubbing can stretch and damage the skin. Wear sunglasses and even reading glasses, if you need them, to prevent those pesky squint lines from developing around your eyes and forehead.

Smoking is, of course, one of the worse things you can do for your health but it also ages you. It can stain your teeth, wreak havoc on your skin, not to mention your insides, and people who smoke generally look older than what they really are.

7. Maintain Your Muscle Mass

Muscles degenerate as you age, so maintain them if you want a younger appearance. If you’re worried about your upper arms staying firm and toned, lift weights. Strength train a few times a week, and eat foods high in protein such as meat, poultry, rice and beans, and eggs.
