Homemade Remedies for Whitening Your Teeth

May 7th 2016

Baking soda, strawberries and even coconut oil can be effective homemade remedies for whitening your teeth. While it is always a good idea to talk to your dentist first, you can restore the natural shine to your smile using ingredients you probably already own.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide has known bleaching properties, so it can be a good choice for whitening your teeth. Simply rinse your mouth with a diluted mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, being sure to swish the solution around your teeth for at least a few seconds before spitting it out. You can also mix a few drops of hydrogen peroxide with some baking soda to create a paste and brush your teeth with it.

Strawberries

Strawberries are one of the more unexpected and delicious natural teeth whiteners. They work because they contain a significant amount of malic acid, which effectively targets surface stains. To use this whitener, simply mash up a couple of strawberries and mix with a small amount of baking soda or salt to create a slightly abrasive paste. Next, apply the mixture to your toothbrush, and rub it on your teeth for a few minutes.
